An online meeting was held at the Azerbaijan Trade Union Confederation (ATUC) on April 23.
ATUC Chairman, MP Sattar Mohbaliyev
informed the participants about the issues on the agenda of the Executive
Committee. A number of statistical and financial reports, references on the
activities of ATUC subordinate organizations, issues related to the economic
results of the year were discussed and relevant decisions were made. The issues
related to the coronavirus on the agenda, the measures taken by the President
of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev in this field and the sympathy of
each member of the trade union, the tasks facing the trade unions and the steps
to be taken were discussed at the meeting.
Sattar Mohbaliyev noted that the
Confederation of Trade Unions of Azerbaijan should be with the President in
these difficult days, mobilize all their resources to meet the needs of the
people, each member of the trade union, low-income families. Every trade union
organization, trade union leader should be closely involved in the
implementation of the President's decisions, work should be expanded to ensure
that everyone obeys quarantine restrictions in the event of a pandemic, and
financial assistance to low-income families and the elderly should be further
expanded.
Sattar Mohbaliyev also informed the
participants about the measures taken by the trade union bodies in a short
period of time and the assistance provided. He noted that to date, all trade
union organizations have spent more than one million manat for this purpose.
Food aid was provided to about 3,400 low-income families. Protective equipment
worth 120,000 manat was purchased and distributed. Funds in the amount of
530,000 manat were donated for the implementation of measures related to the
coronavirus. At the same time, trade union leaders donated their salaries to
the Coronavirus Foundation. 352,500 manat was transferred to the Fund from the
first trade union organizations.
The ATUC chairman further said that the
ATUC will distribute food gifts to about 3,000 low-income families in all
regions of the country. The food package will consist of daily necessities that
are important for every family.
