Appeal from ATUC to international trade unions
17 Jul 2020
ATUC Chairman, Vice President of the International Trade Union Confederation and Pan-European Regional Council, MP Sattar Mohbaliyev appealed to the International Trade Union Confederation, including the International Trade Union Confederation, the Pan-European Regional Council, He addressed an appeal to the General Trade Union Confederation. The appeal says:
Dear
Colleagues!
As you
know, as a result of the Armenian military aggression, 20 percent of the
territory of the Republic of Azerbaijan - the Nagorno-Karabakh region and 7
adjacent regions - has been occupied by Armenian military units. Armenian armed
forces, in violation of all the principles and norms of international
humanitarian law, purposefully chose the civilian population as the main target
and committed a systematic and mass massacre and genocide.
As a
result of the Armenian-Azerbaijani Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, more than 1
million Azerbaijanis became internally displaced persons, 20,000 were killed
during military operations, and 50,000 were disabled. As a result of the
conflict, about 4,000 Azerbaijanis went missing. Among them were 67 children,
265 women and 326 elderly people. The fate of these people is still unknown.
More than 2,000 Azerbaijanis were captured and taken hostage by Armenians.
Our
world-famous cultural and art monuments were destroyed by Armenian vandals in
the occupied territories of Azerbaijan.
In order
to continue its insidious intentions, the Republic of Armenia today places
Armenian citizens from foreign countries in the occupied territories and wants
to artificially change the demographic situation in Nagorno-Karabakh in its
favor.
Acting
as the main guarantor of international peace and security, the UN Security
Council adopted four resolutions on the Armenian-Azerbaijani Nagorno-Karabakh
conflict in 1993 - 822, 853, 874 and 884. These resolutions define the legal
basis of the political process for resolving the conflict on the basis of the
norms and principles of international law. The resolutions condemned the
occupation of Azerbaijani territory and stressed the inadmissibility of the
implementation of territorial claims through the use of force. The territorial
integrity, sovereignty and inviolability of the borders of Azerbaijan were
reaffirmed and the immediate, complete and unconditional withdrawal of the
occupying forces from all occupied territories of Azerbaijan was demanded.
Along
with the United Nations Security Council, the Organization of Islamic
Cooperation (OIC), the European Union, the Council of Europe, the OSCE, the
Non-Aligned Movement and other international organizations have stated their
position on Azerbaijan's military aggression and the restoration of its
territorial integrity draws. It is trying to freeze the conflict. From time to
time, it pursues an aggressive policy in order to inflame the conflict.
Today,
the armed forces of the Republic of Armenia continue to commit massacres
against the civilian population of Azerbaijan in violation of the ceasefire.
Despite
the ceasefire in order to prevent bloody clashes, on July 12, the Armenian
military suddenly and treacherously attacked the positions of the Azerbaijani
armed forces in the direction of the Tovuz region of the Azerbaijani state
border, which has nothing to do with Nagorno-Karabakh. This is not the first
time that the Armenian leadership has tried to overcome the serious problems it
faces inside its country and is unable to solve by committing disgusting
military provocations on the border or on the line of contact. The fact that
the dictatorial regime of Pashkina resorted to military provocations in order
to avoid the anger of the people, fed up with the severe epidemiological
situation and socio-economic hardships, shows that his policy is not slightly
different from the policy of the previous junta regimes of Armenia. As a result
of the attack by the Armenian armed forces, 12 of our servicemen, including
high-ranking Chinese officers, were killed, and many houses belonging to the
residents of the border villages were destroyed. Even civilians in the border
villages were killed, as well as the military.
Dear
Colleagues!
We
believe that the international trade unions are aware of the identity of the
aggressor and the parties to the conflict in the Azerbaijani-Armenian and
Nagorno-Karabakh conflicts. We hope that they will take a fair stance in order
to put an end to Armenia's aggression, ensure the territorial integrity of the
Republic of Azerbaijan and fulfill Azerbaijan's just demands for the withdrawal
of Armenian forces from the occupied territories.
