STATEMENT of the Azerbaijan Trade Unions Confederation
28 Sep 2020
Early in the morning of September 27, 2020, military units of the Armenian Armed Forces committed military provocation along the entire front. Villages inhabited by civilians along the frontline were fired at with large-caliber weapons, mortars and artillery of various calibers.
The
shelling of civilians and facilities by the Armenian armed forces on the
frontline is another deliberate and targeted provocation. As a result of this
provocation, there are casualties among the civilian population and military
personnel, and many houses and civilian objects have been severely damaged.
In his
speech at the 75th session of the UN General Assembly, President Ilham Aliyev
noted that Armenia was preparing for an attack. “The Prime Minister of Armenia
announced the establishment of armed civilian volunteer groups of tens of
thousands of civilians to be forced to take part in military operations against
Azerbaijan. Armenian Defense Minister calls for "new war for new
territories" "Azerbaijanophobic statements and provocations against
the Armenian leadership demonstrate that Armenia is preparing for a new war
against Azerbaijan."
The next
military provocation of the Armenian leadership once again proves that it is
hostile to such values as peace, tranquility and security. Ignoring the
numerous resolutions and calls of the UN Security Council and various
international organizations to liberate the occupied Azerbaijani lands, Armenia
has become the greatest threat to peace and security not only in the South
Caucasus, but also around the world.
It has
become a bad habit for the Armenian side to periodically commit bloody
provocations on the line of contact and in the border areas. This is not the
first time that the Armenian leadership has tried to overcome the serious
problems it faces inside its country by committing disgusting military
provocations on the border or on the line of contact. The fact that Pashkina's
dictatorial regime resorted to military provocations to avoid the wrath of the
people, fed up with the severe epidemiological situation and socio-economic
hardships, shows that his policy is not slightly different from the policy
pursued by the previous junta regimes of Armenia.
Today,
the Azerbaijani army is one of the most powerful armies in the world and is
able to prevent any attack of the enemy, to deliver a deadly blow to it, and it
does so with confidence. As a result of the counter-offensive operation carried
out by the brave Azerbaijani army, the enemy's front line was broken, a number
of villages were liberated from occupation, and strategic heights of special
importance were captured. The enemy was forced to retreat, throwing weapons and
ammunition. We believe that these victories will continue.
As trade
unions of Azerbaijan, we strongly support the policy pursued by the Supreme
Commander-in-Chief, President Ilham Aliyev to ensure the territorial integrity
of our country and the security of the population, to prevent any Armenian
intrigue and provocation, and declare our close unity around it. We are proud
of our army, which has a glorious history. One and a half million members of
trade unions are with the President of the country, Supreme Commander-in-Chief
Ilham Aliyev and are on their way!!!
