Azerbaijan Trade Unions are fulfilling their responsibilities in the fight against the pandemic

The coronavirus pandemic has taken the whole world by storm, changed people’s lifestyles and social problems in a completely new direction, and exposed their work and activities to unexpected effects.
The sudden onset of the crisis forced the Azerbaijan
Trade Unions to build their business in accordance with the new requirments.It
is not difficult to imagine the responsibility of the organization,whose main
task is to protect the socio-economic and legal interests of our citizens.A
meeting of the Executive Committee of the Azerbaijan Trade Union Confederation
was held on March 20 in
connection with the pandemic.
It was decided at the meeting to support the decisive
steps of President Ilham Aliyev to prevent the spread of
coronavirus(COVID-19)infection,which has been declared a global pandemic by the
World Health Organization.It was noted that the members of the trade unions
also appreciate the establishment of the Coronovirus Support fund by the
Presidental Decree dated March 19.At the meeting,it was decided to transfer 250,000
manat to the Coronavirus support Fund.In another decision,the ATUC
transferred100,000 AZN to support the fight against coronavirus in the
Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic.
On March 23, Chairman Sattar Mohbaliyev held a meeting with
the heads of ATUC member and subordinate organizations to prevent the spresd of
the infection,which was declared a global pandemic by the World Health
Organization.
The ATUC chairman informed the meeting participants about
the measures taken under the leadership of the President of the Republic of
Azerbaijan Mr.Ilham Aliyev to prevent the spread of coronavirus infection in
our country. The Atuc chairman said that
the composition of the working group headed by Minister of Labor and Social
Protection Sahil Babayev was approved by the Cabinet of Ministers of the
Republic of Azerbaijan to prepare relevant proposal to address employment and
social problems that may arise from the possible negative impact of the
coronavirus pandemic on the country’s economy.We also participate in the
Working Group as the Confederation of Trade Union of Azerbaijan.
Our main task is to prevent unjustified reduction of the
number of employees by employers in the current situation.
In this regard,a special notice was sent to employers on
behalf of the Ministry of Economy,the Ministry of Labor and Social
Protection,the National Confederation of Entrepreneurs and the ATUC.
The statement says that our state,which pursues an active
policy for the sustainable development of national entrepreneurship,is with
every entrepreneur and supports them in the current situation.
In order to prevent the further spread of COVID-19
infection in our country,support programs for single people over 65 and
low-income families continue regime announced.
For this
purpose,the ATUC signed an agreemet with the
‘Regional Development’ Public Union of the Heydar Aliyev
Foundation on April 13.2020.
According to the agreement,the ATUC transferred 105,000
manat to the Union’s account.During thisbperiod,mobile groups established by
ATUC member and subordinate organizations provided material and food assistance
to 10,744 low-incom families,needy people over 65,and members of trade unions
in the amount of 590,900 manat.
In general,more than 1 milion manta was spent by
Azerbaijan trade unions to support the fight against coronavirus and the
measures taken by the state.
