Appeal of Azerbaijan Trade Unions to International Organizations
05 Oct 2020
Adhering to the "tradition" of the fascist regime of Armenia, which started military provocations on September 27, it still shows its ugly face and does not hesitate to target our villages and civilians.
The
failure of the military-political leadership of the aggressor Armenia to stop
terrorist acts against the civilian population in gross violation of the norms
and principles of international law, to use the right of self-defense of
Azerbaijan to force the enemy to peace, to prevent Armenian provocations,
military adventures and aggression against our country forced to start.
The
Armenian armed forces, which suffered humiliating defeats on the battlefield
with our army, intensively fired heavy artillery shells at Azerbaijani
settlements, civilian objects, private and apartment houses, hospitals, medical
centers, school buildings, kindergartens, government buildings, and economic
areas.
On the
morning of October 4, 2020, the Armenian armed forces fired rockets at the
civilian city of Ganja, the second largest city in Azerbaijan with an ancient
history and numerous cultural and tourism facilities, far beyond the conflict
zone, killing one civilian and injuring 35 others. Many people were injured
under the rubble of collapsed residential buildings and historical monuments.
Armenian
armed forces deliberately and deliberately fired heavy artillery and missiles
at Beylagan and Tartar, Horadiz, Fizuli, Barda, Agdam, Agjabadi, Jabrayil,
Khizi and the Absheron region around Baku, as well as other civilian
settlements. The city of Mingachevir, one of the largest industrial centers in
Azerbaijan, where a huge reservoir and power plant are located, also came under
fire. As a result of purposeful fire from the Armenian side, 24 Azerbaijani
civilians have been killed, 121 people have been injured, more than 300
residential buildings and civil facilities have been destroyed. However,
international humanitarian law, as a basic principle, requires a clear
distinction between combatants and civilians, military and civilian objects in
the course of military operations. The occupying Armenian state, targeting the
civilian population using special missile systems, violated the UN Charter, norms
and principles of international law, international humanitarian law, the Geneva
Conventions, especially the Convention on the Protection of Civilian Persons of
August 12, 1949. Continues its aggressive policy and war crimes in gross
violation of the provisions of the Hague Convention of 14 May 1954 on the
Protection of Cultural Property in the Event of Conflict and other
international human rights instruments.
The
Azerbaijani army does not fire on civilians, does not fire a single bullet or
shell. Azerbaijani fighters are fighting against Armenian terrorists not for
peace in foreign lands, but for the establishment of peace in their ancient
homeland. Azerbaijan enjoys the right to self-defense within the requirements
of international law, striving not to harm the civilian population.
Unfortunately,
the Azerbaijani government, human rights and non-governmental organizations,
the world's leading international organizations, including the United Nations,
the OSCE, the European Union, the Council of Europe, have been accused of
crimes committed by the Armenian armed forces against civilians and their
appeals to other international organizations remain unanswered. Civilians are
being killed, historical monuments and cultural sites are being destroyed, but
international organizations, especially the United Nations, and the OSCE Minsk
Group, which is directly responsible for resolving the conflict, remain silent.
Thanks to double standards, Armenia's crimes are turned a blind eye, and
Azerbaijan's just voice is not heard.
As trade
unions, we urge the world's leading states, international organizations and
international labor organizations not to watch the crimes committed by Armenia
in Azerbaijan, but to take the necessary steps and take appropriate measures to
restore the rights and freedoms of civilians violated by the
Armenian-Azerbaijani Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
