17 Mar 2021
President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva and their daughter Leyla Aliyeva visited Shusha on March 16.
President Ilham Aliyev said:
-Yesterday we left Azykh and came to Shusha. The roads
are still in a very bad condition, because there is no road, we came on the way
to victory. So far, it is only a dirt road, because the weather is cold, it is
impossible to lay asphalt. It was muddy and there was a strong fog. That is why
we came from Azykh to Shusha in 1 hour and 45 minutes. We stayed in Shusha at
night. We left at 9 in the morning and are leaving, there are several events.
The weather is clear, but still the clouds are over the city.
We last visited in January. We returned the busts of
Natavan, Uzeyir Hajibeyli and Bulbul to Shusha. It is a great pleasure to come
to Shusha again today. On the left are the snowy, foggy mountains of Shusha.
Restoration work will begin on Vagif's mausoleum soon.
The former appearance of the mausoleum will be restored. Restoration work will
begin today.
Relevant instructions have already been given to restore
the mosques. Preliminary research has begun and the project will be presented
in the near future.
Shusha is beautiful in all seasons.
We will also restore the springs. For thirty years,
Armenians have dried up all our springs. See what the city is like, what the
enemy has done to Shusha.
We are approaching Vagif's mausoleum. Work has already
begun. I looked at the project. Here are the photos. While being here, National
Leader Heydar Aliyev attended both the opening and Vagif Poetry Day. We
are restoring history. This project will be implemented by the Heydar Aliyev
Foundation at its own expense, with the special taste of the Heydar Aliyev
Foundation, under the leadership of Mehriban Aliyeva.
President Ilham Aliyev, First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva and
their daughter Leyla Aliyeva visited the museum-mausoleum complex of Molla
Panah Vagif in Shusha.
President `s assistant Anar Alakbarov briefed the
President and the First Lady on the project to restore the complex. This
project will be implemented by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation. During the
project, special attention will be paid to the restoration of the mausoleum.
When the Armenians occupied Shusha in 1992, they also brutally destroyed this
monument.
President Ilham Aliyev: I found these photos in the
archives. Vagif Poetry Days was held in the summer of 1982. Great leader Heydar
Aliyev in front of the mausoleum. People also took part in this event here.
Last time I was here, I noticed this place and said that pictures should be
found in the archive, what happened here and this picture was found. You see,
look at Vagif's description, it was on the wall. The hated enemy dismantled it
and dismantled this marble. This was a stone on the tomb. The vandal Armenian
demolished it as well. We will restore it. I found a few more photos from the
archive in connection with the Great Leader's visit to Shusha at that time, and
I am here. This is also on the plain of Cidir. I showed it once, in front of
Natavan spring. There is a picture, I have to show it. There was also a bust of
Vagif. Last time I was in Shusha, I showed that Armenians were dismantling the
bust and building a shop. Here it is. The bust of Vagif and the Great Leader
are also watching. We will restore this bust.
Then the head of state, first lady and Leyla Aliyeva
inspected the remains of Panahali khan's palace. This building is located in
the historical center of Shusha and was a historical palace that was the
residence of Panahali khan, the founder of the Karabakh khanate. Armenian
vandals also destroyed this historic building during the occupation.
President Ilham Aliyev: This was the palace of Panahali
Khan. Panahali khan, who built Shusha, built a palace for himself here. Now
look at what day the Armenians built this palace. It was a historical monument.
The hated enemy came and occupied our land, expelled people, destroyed our
historical monuments, demolished, vandalized and barbarized.
Let all international organizations come and see it. Let
the circles that protect and support the Armenians, who always support them,
come and see what these savages have done.
The liberated lands are a witness to the Armenian
atrocities. Never before in the history of the world has there been such
atrocity. If you come, you live on someone else's land, and then you take the
opportunity to drive out the locals, kill them, burn them, commit genocide.
Then the people who embraced you, accepted you, allowed you to live here, look
at its historical monument and put it today. Savagery. When I say, as if a
savage tribe had passed through here, I mean this scene.
Then President Ilham Aliyev, First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva
and their daughter Leyla Aliyeva arrived at the site of the bust of Molla Panah
Vagif.
The project to restore the bust of Mullah Panah Vagif
will also be implemented by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation.
President Ilham Aliyev: This is the foundation of the
pedestal. Armenians destroyed it, we will restore it.
During the occupation, Armenian vandals also destroyed
the 19th-century Caravanserai historical and architectural complex located in
the central square of Shusha.
