STATEMENT of the Executive Committee of the ATUC on the Armenian provocations against our compatriots living abroad
27 Jul 2020
In recent days, the Armenian military treacherously attacked the positions of the Azerbaijani armed forces in the direction of the Tovuz region of the state border of Azerbaijan and committed another military provocation
As a result of the attack by the Armenian armed forces,
12 servicemen, including high-ranking Chinese officers, were killed, civilians
and civilian objects were fired upon, thus grossly violating international
humanitarian law and human rights decisions, as well as international labor rights
and conventions.
The pre-arranged peaceful, patriotic actions of our
compatriots abroad in support of their homeland in connection with the recent
provocations committed by Armenia have been met with physical violence,
aggression and inhuman hatred by members of the Armenian Diaspora. Such
provocations, which resorted to psychological and physical violence with the
moral support of Armenia, took place in France, Great Britain, Sweden, Poland,
Australia, the United States, the Netherlands and Belgium.
Evaluating the provocations, First Vice President of the
Republic of Azerbaijan Mehriban Aliyeva said in her address to our compatriots,
“Our task is to unite and insist on a fair investigation of the latest acts of
violence and the prosecution of the perpetrators. What happened clearly
demonstrates to the world community how dangerous Armenia's aggressive policy
is for the civilian population of Azerbaijan. In such cases, it is our duty to
convey this truth to the world community. "
The Confederation of Trade Unions of Azerbaijan, joining
this call, deeply understands the feelings and excitement of hundreds of
thousands of our compatriots living abroad in connection with these events and
strongly condemns the actions of radical Armenians against our compatriots. We
expect the countries responsible for preventing such provocations to take full
responsibility for the duties of law enforcement agencies.
As noted in Mehriban Aliyeva's call, the main task of all
of us, no matter where we live, is to show vigilance, composure, solidarity at
a sensitive time, to expose the Armenians in a peaceful and restrained manner,
to respond to provocations only within the law. We must use all means to
contribute to the solution of the Nagorno-Karabakh problem, which is the biggest
problem of our country, and to ensure the territorial integrity of our country.
We would like to express with confidence that our
compatriots living abroad will show unity and solidarity in this issue, will
spare no effort to support the activities of our state and President to expose
Armenia's policy of aggression around the world, expose the hated policy of
Armenians in all directions.
