Sattar Mohbaliyev: "Establishment of Joint Monitoring Center was another manifestation of Azerbaijan-Turkey brotherhood"

01 Feb 2021

"The establishment of the Turkish-Russian Joint Monitoring Center in Agdam is of great importance not only for the establishment of peace and stability in Karabakh, but also in the South Caucasus region in general, as well as the prospects for mutual cooperation between the countries of the region.

It is known that under the leadership of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Ilham Aliyev, our country has implemented UN Security Council resolutions ignored by Armenia and its supporters for 30 years in just 44 days, thus resolving the Karabakh conflict. However, the mere fact of the end of hostilities does not in itself guarantee peace and stability in the region and the region. This required a special body to monitor further developments in the former conflict zone. The trilateral statement signed by the leaders of Azerbaijan, Russia and Armenia on November 10, 2020 also provided for the establishment of a peacekeeping center to monitor the ceasefire in order to increase the effectiveness of monitoring the compliance of the parties to the agreements. Also, for this purpose, Turkey and Russia agreed to establish a Joint Center. As a result of this agreement, the Turkish-Russian Joint Monitoring Center was established on January 30 in the Aghdam region. ” The statement came from MP, chairman of the Azerbaijan Trade Unions Confederation Sattar Mohbaliyev in an interview with our website.
Sattar Mohbaliyev also said that the joint activity of Turkish and Russian peacekeepers in the newly established Center is in the interests of Azerbaijan: “It should be noted that both countries are friendly and neighboring countries for us, and it is important to establish such a center with their participation. . First of all, with the establishment of this center, the attempts of other forces to side with the region were eliminated. Turkey, together with Russia, will play a decisive role in officially monitoring the ceasefire. Also, the joint activities of Turkey and Russia create great opportunities for future cooperation in the region. However, I think that the main tasks of the Monitoring Center for today will be to ensure stability in the region, to fulfill the terms of the agreement reached between Armenia and Azerbaijan, to prevent and investigate possible incidents. "
The MP stressed that the start of the service of the representatives of brotherly Turkey in the liberated territories of Azerbaijan can be seen as another successful result of the new geopolitical realities created by our country in the region. Sattar Mohbaliyev concluded: “The 44-day Patriotic War, which ended with the complete and decisive victory of Azerbaijan, created new realities in the South Caucasus region. The formation of these realities, of course, was possible, first of all, as a result of the purposeful foreign policy pursued by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Mr. Ilham Aliyev, and thanks to the invincible political will of our esteemed head of state. At the same time, the Azerbaijan-Turkey partnership and unshakable friendship have played an important role in the acceptance of these new realities by the whole world. Today, this partnership lays the foundation for ensuring not only peace and security in the region, but also new joint projects to be implemented in the future with the participation of countries in the region and neighboring countries. The joint efforts of the two countries in the post-war period are of great importance for the stability, security and sustainable development of the South Caucasus as a whole. From now on, other countries in the region will take an active part in creating a diversified network of international transport corridors, which will further increase the country's regional and international prestige.
