02 Dec 2019

An event was held on December 2 to award the winners of the Professional Youth of the Year competition organized by the Confederation of Trade Unions of Azerbaijan (ATUC).

Chairman of the ATUC Sattar Mohbaliyev noted that healthy, educated growth of our young people, their professionalism and upbringing as worthy citizens are one of the main directions of the state youth policy implemented in Azerbaijan. S.Mohbaliyev said that the basis of youth policy of the state in our independent country was laid by national leader Heydar Aliyev and was successfully continued by President Ilham Aliyev. He noted that the development strategies and state programs adopted in this direction are aimed at youth development.
Referring to the ATUC's efforts to contribute to the successful implementation of youth policy, S.Mohbaliyev said: “Today Azerbaijani youth are actively involved in the construction of a new, modern and independent country. Reliability of our future depends on the training of professional staff and their transformation into a leading force. At present, one-third of the trade union members in the country are young people under 35 years of age. One such issue is the close involvement of such a force in the work of the organization. Trade unions seek to ensure that young people are active within the existing structure, to promote representation in the governing bodies, and to protect the rights and interests of working and educated youth. Employment of young people, healthy lifestyles, leisure activities and other issues are at the forefront, as well as regular scientific conferences and seminars. ”
According to him, the ATUC is constantly working with member organizations to ensure the activity of young people, to protect the rights and interests of working and educated youth, and to take appropriate measures in accordance with the state youth policy. The organization of the “Young Professionals of the Year” promotes the efficient organization of leisure time for our youth, their interest in science, education, and promotion of healthy lifestyles. He said that over the past two years, 107 young people have been honored with the title of "Professional Young of the Year" by the ATUC decision. According to the results of last year, 56 talented young people were awarded the title "Professional Young of the Year", 38 of them are men and 18 are women.
Emphasizing that the state's attitude towards young people is the future of that state, the chairman of the ATUC said that some steps were being taken to address the social problems of the students and that 120 scholarships were provided to 120 students.
Then there was the awarding ceremony of the winners. The winners were awarded with honorary diplomas and valuable gifts.
