Cooperation between the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Republic
of Azerbaijan and the Confederation of Trade Unions of Azerbaijan to assist in
the organization of self-employment of vulnerable groups" and other
current issues were discussed.
The work plan of the ATUC Executive Committee and staff
for the first half of 2021 reflects the issues discussed at the meetings of the
Executive Committee and the work to be done and measures to be taken to protect
the socio-economic rights of employees and solve their problems. The action
plan includes the awarding of young people with achievements in labor,
education and public activities in 2020 with the honorary title of
"Professional Youth of the Year", the involvement of trade union
staff and activists in training courses, the creation of healthy and safe
working conditions. The results of the republican review competition held under
the motto "Organization", holding meetings of trade union activists
on the celebration of birthdays and anniversaries of national leader Heydar

(COVID-19) and the Patriotic War" The publication of books entitled
"Analysis of the situation and the position of trade unions in the
affected areas during the COVID-19 pandemic in Azerbaijan" and other
current issues are planned.
The Office of the Confederation of Trade Unions of
Azerbaijan always pays attention to the resolution of applications and
complaints. Applications and complaints are investigated on the spot by staff or
representatives of member organizations in the presence of the authors and
resolved accordingly. In 2020, the member organizations of the confederation
received 125,594 applications and complaints, of which 98.4% were resolved. The
appeals were mainly related to the protection of workers' labor rights -
dismissals and redundancies, along with the work of trade union bodies, the
vast majority of which were related to financial assistance. If some of the
issues raised in the appeals could not be resolved for any objective reason,
the authors of the applications were provided with relevant explanations.
During the year, 509 letters of appreciation were sent to the ATUC by the
authors of applications, complaints and appeals that were resolved positively.
The letters praise the provision of trade union scholarships to trade union
members, students and pupils, care and financial assistance to low-income
families.
11,722 collective agreements were signed between trade
unions and employers, covering the majority of trade union members.
The Executive Committee recommended that trade union
leaders pay more attention to the appeals of illegally dismissed and laid off
employees by employers and that it is important for all trade unions to
conclude collective agreements. He also noted the importance of informing the
public about the measures taken to strengthen the activities of trade unions
and the work done, and noted the expediency of covering the issues in the media
and social networks. At the same time, taking into account the importance of
statistical reports in the life of the trade union, it was brought to the
attention of member organizations to take a more serious approach to this
issue.
The ATUC is taking important measures to attract
non-union employees to trade union membership, increase the number of trade
unions, protect the socio-economic rights of employees, provide them with
appropriate proposals during the adoption of legislation and exercise public
control. In order to increase the efficiency of this work, it was noted that it
is necessary to pay attention to the applications and complaints of employees,
to ensure the close participation of each trade union employee in solving their
problems.
