Statement of the Executive Committee of the Azerbaijan Trade Unions Confederation
25 Apr 2021
On April 25, the Executive Committee of the Azerbaijan Trade Unions Confederation issued a statement on the statements made by US President Joseph Biden on April 24.
The
statement said:
US
President Joseph Biden's statements are a distortion of the historical truth
about the events of 1915. It is also disappointing to hear the unrealistic
phrase "Armenian genocide" from the head of an influential state like
the United States.
During
the short history of Armenia, which presents itself as a nation subjected to
the "genocide" and tries to convince all countries of these lies, we
have repeatedly witnessed massacres, genocides and provocations against
Azerbaijanis. Evidence of massacres committed by Armenian armed groups against
Azerbaijanis between March 30 and April 3, 1918 in Baku and various regions of
Baku province, as well as in Shamakhi, Guba, Khachmaz, Lankaran, Hajigabul,
Salyan, Zangazur, Karabakh, Nakhchivan and other areas has been. According to
official sources, as a result of the genocide, about 12,000 Azerbaijanis were
killed and tens of thousands were missing. It has been confirmed that the bones
found in the cemetery in the Guba region belong to the victims of the 1918
genocide committed by Armenians.
By the
Order of the National Leader of Azerbaijan Heydar Aliyev dated March 26, 1998,
March 31 is marked as the Day of Genocide of Azerbaijanis.
Not so
long ago, during the genocide committed by Armenians in Khojaly 29 years ago,
613 Azerbaijanis were killed. This event took place in front of the eyes of the
world, in front of the cameras, and there are hundreds of videos and photos to
prove it. But in the face of so many facts, the world community finds it
difficult to assess the Khojaly genocide.
The
false and fabricated arguments of the Armenians trying to make the
"Armenian genocide" acceptable to the whole world are not based on
any historical facts. Let's pay attention to one point: Armenians claim that
1.5 million Armenians were killed by the Ottoman state in the Eastern Anatolia
region of Turkey during the First World War, but it is known that at that time
there were not so many Armenians in the world.
Although
the Turkish state has repeatedly stated that it is the work of historians to
investigate the events of 1915 and is ready to establish a joint commission of
historians and open the archives, the Armenian side refused the offer, fearing
that its fantasies about the false genocide would fail.
As
Azerbaijani Trade Unions, we have always stood by brotherly Turkey, and we
strongly condemn the position of the US President on the so-called
"Armenian genocide", which is pro-Armenian. We condemn and consider
unacceptable the presenting of today's states and international organizations,
as well as unrealistic events that allegedly took place in the absence of
international law, as "Armenian genocide" without investigation and
based on facts.
