The third meeting of the Azerbaijan Trade Unions Confederation was held

An online meeting of the 3rd Assembly of the ATUC was held on December 28. The report on the activities of the Azerbaijan Trade Unions Confederation in 2020 was heard at the meeting.

The
rapporteur said that the large-scale reforms launched under the leadership of
President Ilham Aliyev have laid the foundation for high sustainable economic
growth in the country, further diversification of the economy, a high level of
organization of private investment and initiatives.
According to the socio-economic indicators of the first
11 months of this year, an increase of 11.4 percent was recorded in a number of
areas, especially in the non-oil industry, 2 percent in agriculture, 1.6
percent in the information technology and communications sector. Excessive
execution of budget revenues and tax revenues indicates the stability of the
economy. It is a fact that despite all the difficulties of 2020, macroeconomic
stability was observed in Azerbaijan, inflation was 2.5 percent and the manat
exchange rate was stable. All this stability has become possible as a result of
economic reforms carried out by the President of Azerbaijan and their targeted
implementation.
The World Bank has announced the results of its research
on the Doing Business 2020 report. Azerbaijan moved up six places to 28th place
in 191 countries and was named one of the 10 most reformist countries in the
world.
Economic growth in the country despite the difficult
pandemic year 2020, according to statistics for January-November, agricultural
production increased by 2% compared to 2019. The average salary of employees
increased by 14.7% compared to 2019 and amounted to 704.5 manat. In general,
according to the statistics as of July 1, 2020, the average monthly amount of
pensions in the country is 297.9 manat, including 328.2 manat for old-age
pensions, 260.9 manat for disability pensions, with the loss of the head of the
family. In connection with it amounted to 239.9 manat. According to the World
Bank in October 2020, economic downturn was observed in a number of leading
countries around the world. Like developed countries, Azerbaijan is expected to
grow 3.4% in 2021.
Economic stability in 2020 allowed the country's economy
to enter a phase of growth in 2021. According to the economic forecasts, in
2021, the country's GDP will increase by 3.4 percent, the share of the non-oil
sector in GDP will reach 70.5 percent, inflation will be 3.0 percent, and the
manat exchange rate will be stable. It is planned to implement important
stimulus measures next year to increase the share of the private sector in
economic growth and budget revenues.
It was noted
in the report that in the year of our departure, the ATUC has mobilized all its
resources to implement the tasks set. During the year, ATUC Executive Committee
held 4 meetings. The meetings approved the annual statistical report of trade
unions, the Confederation's half-year work plans, the results of the republican
competition for 2019 under the motto "The best enterprise of the year for creating
healthy and safe working conditions", citizens affected by the pandemic
and war, as well as martyrs' families. , financial assistance to veterans,
protection of children of servicemen killed in combat missions in April 2016
and July 2020 in connection with the aggression and provocations committed by
Armenia against Azerbaijan by ATUC member organizations and other current
issues were discussed relevant decisions were made.
Meetings of the Executive Committee on the pandemic and
events (webinars, conferences) held by international organizations (ILO, UNHCR,
UNECE, Pan-European Regional Council) took place online.
The meeting of the Steering Committee of the Pan-European
Regional Council on April 29, the conference for trade unions of Eastern
European countries organized by the Bureau of Labor of the International Labor
Organization on May 14, the meeting of the Pan-European Regional Council on
December 1 and the Pan-European Regional Conference The next meeting of the
Coordinating Committee of the Council on December 8 and other events were held
online, in all of which ATUC leaders participated and spoke.
As a result of discussions with social partners, the
General Collective Agreement for 2020-2022 was signed on March 19 between the
Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the Confederation of Trade
Unions of Azerbaijan and the National Confederation of Entrepreneurs
(Employers) of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
