Congratulations to you and a large army of journalists on the occasion of July 22 - the National Press Day, and wish you success in your responsible work for the development and future prospects of the Azerbaijani press.
Today, the press is building an independent state, a
civilized, democratic civil society, the implementation of economic and social
reforms, the promotion of social justice and transparency in society, the
protection of human rights, the creation of an atmosphere of solidarity and
tolerance, the formation of a national culture plays an important role. It is
impossible to imagine that all these processes taking place in our country
without the participation of the press and mass media.
With the return of the great leader Haydar
Aliyev to power in 1993, our national press, free from political attacks,
reprisals and bugs, has begun to play an important role in the modern
democratic society under the leadership of the esteemed President Ilham Aliyev.
There are all conditions for free activity of print media in the country, for
journalists to freely express their will. Mr President attaches great
importance to the establishment of the national press in Azerbaijan, the
awarding of Azerbaijani press employees on their anniversary, honorary titles,
special attention to their social issues, and special attention to the work of
journalists.
Dear Mr Aflatun!
We believe that our national press,
which is 144 years old, will continue to operate at a qualitatively new level
based on the values of healthy journalism, will not forget its social
responsibility to society, and will not neglect the efforts of some forces to
discredit our state and nation, using pluralism in Azerbaijan. The press will
always maintain a civilized way of citizen-media relations, respect for
journalistic ethics, objectivity, professionalism, impartiality, high national
consciousness and patriotism, urgent problems, respect for national-moral
values and state interests.
