Minister Jeyhun Bayramov said that one of the most important aspects of gender
equality is education. At the same time, equal education of women and men is
one of the fundamental foundations of the legal equality in the country.
The Minister noted that in the second half of the
19th century educational institutions of Azerbaijan have been established in
accordance with European standards. The Girls Gymnasium was opened in Baku in 1901 thanks to
Haji Zeynalabdin Tagiyev's personal funds. Later, women's secular education
opportunities have expanded. During the Democratic Republic of Azerbaijan,
women have a great opportunity to study. This tradition was successfully
continued after our country restored its independence. In the Law on Education,
equality is defined as one of the basic principles of education. It has created
the opportunity for every citizen regardless of gender, race, religion,
political convictions, nationality, social status, health status.
