Electricians Labour Union was organized in Baku city in 1917.

Labour Union Republic Committee of Azerbaijan electric stations and electrical industry workers was established in 1931.An articles of association in new version was adopted on January 30, 2003 in XVI Conference of workers of Azerbaijan electric stations and electrical industry and the organization was called “ Labour union of workers of Azerbaijan electroenergetics and electrical engineering industry.

District Labour Unions are the organizations representing and protecting the labour, social economic rights and interests of the members of labour union working in the sphere of electroenergetics and electrical engineering industry.

Republic district labour union acts according to the Articles of Associations registered in the Ministry of Justice of Azerbaijan Republic pursuant to the Constitution of Azerbaijan Republic, General Declaration of Human Rights, Convention and Advices of International Labour Organization, as per the Law of Azerbaijan Republic “About Labour Union” as well as observing norms and provisions considered in other statutory acts on activity of labour unions.

Supreme body of the labour unions of workers of Azerbaijan electroenergetics and electrical engineering industry is a conference. The Conference determines basic directions of the activity of Republic district labour union, elects a chairman of Republic Committee, members of Republic Committee and audit commission.

Acceptance to the membership of labour union is executed individually, with the voluntary principle, on a basis of personal application. Decision about admission to the membership of labour union is accepted by the primary organization. The member of labour union is awarded a membership card in a defined rule.

District labour union has more than 24 thousand members having 41 primary organizations.

District labour union concludes District (Tariff) Collective Agreement with Republic Committee “Azerenereji” and “Azerenerjitikintiqurashdirma” Open Joint-Stock Company. Enterprises and organizations conclude Collective Agreements on the basis of this District (Tariff) Collective Agreement.

Basic direction of the activity of district labour union consist of protection of labour, social-economic rights of members, observation and strengthening labour discipline, improvement of labour conditions, labour protection and establishment and improvement of safe labour conditions, protection of workers’ health, rational organization and leading of leisure and rest times of the workers, sport development, organization of national-moral, psychological education of youth, respect to woman labour, their cares, improvement of national-moral values, conduction of educational work by different means.
