Executive Committee meeting was held
15 Feb 2019
A meeting of the Azerbaijani Trade Unions Confederation (ATUC) Executive Committee was held on February 15.
The meeting was opened by the chairman
of the ATUC, MP Sattar Mohbaliyev and drew attention to the issues on the
agenda.
Sattar Mohbaliyev highly appreciated the
steps taken by the head of state to improve the social welfare of the
population in recent days. "You know, the Azerbaijani state has joined the
European Social Charter. One of the obligations taken here is to gradually
increase the subsistence minimum to the average monthly wage. Salary is a
fundamental category of the population's living standards, and at the same
time, the level of labor compensation depends largely on this policy. It should
be borne in mind that the development and implementation of the mentioned
policy takes place with the direct involvement of trade unions. I think that
these decisions will continue in the coming years.
It is also known that the minimum
monthly wage is set at 180 manats from 1 March 2019. No amount can be paid in
any organization below this amount. "
The AHCP President said that the number
of scholarships funded by state-funded universities on the basis of success
indicators in higher education institutions will increase from 1 March to
16,000 (sixteen thousand) units by 2019. In this connection, President Ilham
Aliyev signed an Order.
Besides, the head of the state signed an
order on granting scholarships to students, graduates of higher education, secondary
special and vocational education institutions, as well as students studying at
the Master's degree of Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences. In addition,
the Presidential Decree on the establishment of 210 (two hundred and ten)
manats for the high school students of the Republic of Azerbaijan to strengthen
state care for students who have achieved the highest results in the field of
education in our country.
