Copenhagen meetings

From 2 December to 7 December Copenhagen, Denmark hosted the 4th Congress of International Trade Union Confederation (ITUC).
More than 1200 representatives from 132
countries attended the high council meetings where the agenda covered global
economic and social problems. The congress called for organized struggle
against the problems caused by globalized economy and for establishment of
peace in the planet. The congress also determined objectives for trade unions
to proceed with their activities as organization.
Making a speech at the event, the
chairman of Azerbaijan Trade Unions Confederation, MP Sattar Mohbaliyev
commented on ITUC’s reporting period activities and mentioned the missions for
coming 5 years to be performed by the confederation.
At the end resolutions and statements
were adopted, and elections were held for steering bodies. S.Mohbaliyev was
elected Vice President of the ITUC for the next term.
During the days of congress S.Mohbaliyev
had a meeting with international trade union confederation leaders. They
congratulated each other in the meeting with re-elected ITUC Secretary General Sharan
Burrow. Sharan Burrow noted that the confidence given to S.Mohbaliyev comes
from his performance in international trade union action. The Secretary General
said Azerbaijan trade unions are the most active member organization of the ITUC.
S.Mohbaliyev also mentioned cooperative
relations between the ITUC and ATUC. He said many conferences, seminars, round
tables have been held on employment, safe work, the youth, gender equality,
etc. Material and technical, methodical support by our organization was stimulation
for our activities to be more effective. We supported all ITUC projects and
will keep doing so.
Next meeting was with Mrs. Lizette
Risgaard, the President of the Danish Confederation of Trade Unions. The ATUC
chairman S.Mohbaliyev first of all thanked the host for high-level organization
of the congress in Copenhagen. He said Denmark has recently become one of the
world’s most developed countries due to proper economic management and
appropriate introduction of social state model.
