11 Feb 2020

More than 100 students from 29 universities attended the Winter Leadership School on the theme: "Student Trade Union Committees are one of the foundations of volunteer movement at the Education Center in Nabran."

The goal of the event organized by the Azerbaijan Trade Unions Confederation (ATUC) in connection with the announcement of President Ilham Aliyev's 2020 year in our country, is to contribute to the promotion of volunteerism.
Speaking at the opening ceremony on February 11, ATUC Deputy Chairman Agil Dadashov said that in recent years Azerbaijan has played a special role in the promotion and development of volunteering. An example of this is the announcement of the Year of Volunteer 2020 in Azerbaijan by President Ilham Aliyev's decree.
It was noted that the real development of volunteerism in modern Azerbaijan began after the return of national leader Heydar Aliyev to power. Since the first years of its leadership, cooperation between the public and private sectors and civil society has been in the spotlight for the purpose of comprehensive and sustainable development. This process was given a great importance to involve people voluntarily and benefit from their field experience. In 1998, a joint project of the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Tourism, the United Nations Development Program and the UN Volunteer Program was launched.
Agil Dadashov said that today the volunteer movement in Azerbaijan has become an integral part of successful youth policy. It is no coincidence that President Ilham Aliyev, while attending the opening of the ASAN Hayat Complex in Shamakhi, highlighted the success of the volunteers at their successful international sporting events in Azerbaijan. In recent years, Azerbaijan has hosted tens of thousands of volunteers in organizing high-level Eurovision Song Contest 2012, the first European Games in 2015, the Fourth Islamic Solidarity Games in 2017, Formula 1 and other prestigious international events. .
Deputy Chairman of the Republican Committee on Free Trade Unions of Azerbaijan, Mirza Jafarzadeh said that under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev, volunteerism has begun to expand in our country. The law has been passed, thus introducing a new phase of development of the volunteer movement.
The event also highlighted the role of the First Vice President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Mrs. Mehriban Aliyeva, in the development of volunteerism in our country and the successes achieved in this field.
Chairman of the New Azerbaijan Party Youth Union Seymur Orujov said that the youth policy implemented by President Ilham Aliyev ensures comprehensive development of all segments of the youth and their close participation in the socio-political life of the country. He said that this policy covers issues related to upbringing, health, education, intellectual and moral development of youth, effective organization of leisure time, and active participation of youth in all spheres of public life.
It is emphasized that voluntarism is one of the main directions of social activity, which is based on free will and free choice, which is not based on any material gain and aims to further improve the welfare of society.
Then the head of the One-Student Student Volunteer Program of the Ministry of Education, Canoglan Ilyasov, spoke about the history of the program, its successes, activities, opportunities and opportunities for students. He said that the program was organized by the Ministry of Education on December 14, 2015 to create a unified student volunteer base for institutionalizing volunteer movement following the 2015 European Games Presidential Decree. Created in:
