Sattar Mohbaliyev: "Azerbaijan's victory is a glorious victory in the history of all Turkish people"

05 Apr 2021

In his speech at the informal summit of the Cooperation Council of Turkic Speaking States on March 31, President Ilham Aliyev analyzed in detail the reasons for the outbreak of the Second Karabakh War, the course of military operations, the results of the war and the new realities.

At the same time, in his speech, the head of state spoke about the future development prospects of the region and projects of global importance in terms of the implementation of these prospects. The statement came from Sattar Mohbaliyev, MP, chairman of the Azerbaijan Trade Unions Confederation.

Emphasizing that there was a great delay in the development of the entire South Caucasus during the Armenian occupation of Azerbaijan, the MP said that it was the occupation policy of official Yerevan that led to constant tensions in the region and bloody tragedies. occupied the historical territories recognized by the union. About 20 percent of our lands were occupied by Armenia, more than a million Azerbaijanis were expelled from their ancestral lands and forced to live as refugees. A policy of ethnic cleansing was carried out against our people, massacres were committed. As a result of the Khojaly genocide in 1992, more than 600 innocent, peaceful people were brutally killed. 106 women and 63 children were brutally killed. And no one has been punished for all this for 30 years. On the one hand, international organizations have always supported Azerbaijan's position. However, as noted by our President, this support has not been so important in practice. Because the issue was not resolved. The UN Security Council, the world's highest international body, has adopted four resolutions. These resolutions demanded the immediate, complete and unconditional withdrawal of the Armenian armed forces from the occupied territories. These resolutions were adopted in 1993 and remained unimplemented. The OSCE Minsk Group was established in 1992 to resolve the issue. Although this body has been operating for 28 years, no results have been achieved. Of course, the biggest loser from the occupation was Azerbaijan. However, this aggressive policy of Armenia also hindered the development of the entire South Caucasus region. Because the President of Azerbaijan has always said that we will take back our lands. If a peaceful solution is not possible, we will do it militarily. Of course, it is almost impossible for foreign investors to invest in a region at risk of military conflict. Of course, if the permanent members of the UN Security Council had put serious pressure on the occupation of Armenia and imposed appropriate sanctions, the issue could have been resolved peacefully. But this did not happen. That is why Azerbaijan was forced to return its lands by military means. ”

Afterwards, Sattar Mohbaliyev stressed the importance of presenting concrete facts about Armenian vandalism to the heads of member states at the summit of the Turkish Council: “The liberated territories are a direct witness of Armenian vandalism. For 30 years, Armenian invaders have been engaged in unprecedented looting and unimaginable acts of vandalism in the occupied territories of Azerbaijan. In those lands, entire cities and villages of Azerbaijan were destroyed, houses were destroyed, our historical monuments were destroyed and looted. President Ilham Aliyev briefed the heads of member states on all this at the summit of the Turkish Council, noting that foreign and local journalists called Agdam the Hiroshima of the Caucasus. After the liberation of Fizuli, there was not a single safe building left in the city to raise the Azerbaijani flag on the roof of that building. Armenians plowed cemeteries, destroyed graves, destroyed more than 60 mosques, and kept cows and pigs in half-demolished mosques. As if all this were not enough, the Armenian leadership still does not want to give up its unconstructive position. The mine location map has not been submitted to Azerbaijan yet. This is, of course, another war crime. After the war, many Azerbaijani civilians and servicemen were killed and wounded by landmines. Because we do not have these maps, demining takes more time, and of course, for this reason, the return of our IDPs and refugees to their ancestral homes cannot be done yet.
