The Khojaly genocide is the worst tragedy of the last century

Azerbaijan Trade Unions Confederation hosted an event dedicated to the 27th anniversary of the Khojaly genocide.
At the
event ATUC Chairman and MP Sattar Mohbaliyev said that the Khojaly genocide was
the worst tragedy of the last century. Residents of the city were
brutally murdered. The elderly, women, and children were killed. The city of
Khojaly was destroyed in one night. 613 residents were cruelly killed. 150
people are missing. 1275 people were taken prisoner.
Despite the local resistance of the Brave Khojalies, it
was impossible to prevent the crimes of Armenian vandals. Because at that time,
the Azerbaijani government was at the top of a cowardly, irreconcilable,
people. If he did not have the phenomenon of Heydar Aliyev, who knows how long
this vandalism would continue. One of the first steps taken by Heydar Aliyev to
the leadership of the republic was to stop the next attacks of the Armenians. At
the initiative of Heydar Aliyev in February 1994, the Parliament of the Azerbaijan
Republic gave legal and political assessment to the Khojaly genocide.
S.Mohlbaliev said that, even after many years, our people
will never forget this genocide. Our people demand fair decisions from the
international community, influential international organizations. As a result of the efforts of the President
of our Republic, First Lady Mehriban Aliyeva, Vice-President of the Heydar
Aliyev Foundation Leyla Aliyeva, many countries have recognized as genocide of
Khojaly events. Sattar Mohbaliyev said at the end of his speech that the
country, which gained the favor of the near, far-reaching countries, is getting
stronger day by day. There were other speeches at the event. The speakers
stressed the importance of combining efforts to introduce the Khojaly genocide
guilty to the world. They said that, as every year, trade unions have held
numerous events dedicated to the Khojaly genocide.
Participants will take part in the mass rally on February
26.
