The event organized by the Confederation of Trade Unions of Azerbaijan (ATUC) to promote volunteerism in connection with the announcement of President Ilham Aliyev's 2020 year in the country as the Year of Volunteers.
During the Winter Leadership School, panel discussions were held on various topics.
During the discussions, the students were informed in detail about the goals and principles of volunteerism, the work being done in the country to engage young people in volunteer activities and the measures taken to promote volunteering. It was noted that such activities are important for attracting young people to volunteer activities, stimulating the personal development of young people, enhancing their sense of social responsibility, and effectively utilizing the potential of youth for sustainable development of our country.
Students participated in various sports and intellectual games as part of the Winter Leadership School.
During the visit to the Guba Genocide Memorial Complex, participants of the Winter Leadership School were informed about the genocide committed by Armenians.
It was noted that the Guba Genocide Memorial Complex, established with the support of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, was opened on September 18, 2013. The complex contains images of various areas of Guba in the early twentieth century, photographs of construction and construction work done here. It is possible to find information about the acts of genocide committed by Armenians against our people in different regions of the country in the last century on a special map with a touch screen installed here.
The tomb of the Guba genocide was discovered on April 1, 2007, during the land works. Subsequently, the Institute of Archeology and Ethnography of the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan carried out extensive research on mass graves. Research has revealed that the cemetery is linked to the genocide committed by Armenians against the local civilians in 1918.
