The event was held on the occasion of 28 May – Republic day in Azerbaijan Trade Union Confederation in 27 May.

Dadashov, the deputy chairman of ATUC, opened the event with introductory word.
The deputy chairman said that, the 101th anniversary of establishment
of Azerbaijani People’s Republic is celebrated on 28 May. While analyzing the public
and political processes happened in our country during these years, we clearly
see the real value, essence of Azerbaijan People’s Republic, also historical role
played in the way of independence.
Vakil Hasanov, the doctor of the
science of history, made a report related to the anniversary of Azerbaijan
People Republic in the event. He emphasized that, While analyzing the public

of independence. Existing of independent state of each people is very important
issue. 1918-1920 was a period which had very great importance in the life of
Azerbaijani people. Azerbaijan achieved state sovereignty for the first time
just in this period and tried to take worthy place in the world union. This
period was an important stage in the life of nation and laid the foundation of
its future and independence. Two years are not great time for history. But, the
scope, importance and meaning of works, which done by Azerbaijan Republic in
these two years, is very great event in the life of Azerbaijani people.
V.Hasanov said that, Azerbaijan
parliament became to democratic republic in a short period of time having the
government, army, customs and law enforcement authorities, possessing to
national symbols and state attributes, holding high the civil rights from all.
The democratic, worldwide, unitary state basing on civil solidarity was
established in Azerbaijan for the first time in the East where monarchy
military- feudal regimes existed in the beginning of XX century. The guidance
of republic adopted economic laws which were legal base for realization of
important works – social-economic reforms related to political, economic and
cultural life of Azerbaijan in difficult condition, it formed the structures,
also tax and financial authorities, State Bank which conducted the economic
policy of the state.
Though all efforts made by
Republic in state building, the following course of events didn’t give an
opportunity to realize the most of events considered. Its 23 months activity was
very important event in the destiny of Azerbaijani people. The great historical
practice, democracy and democratic state building of Azerbaijan Republic having
its own parliament, government, army and monetary unit in a short period is
realized and developed at present in the Republic of Azerbaijan which has legal
and moral inheritance.
The speaker then notified that, national
liberation movement started in our republic since 1988, Azerbaijan announced
its state independence for the second time with adoption of Independence Act in
former Supreme Soviet on 18 October 1991. The establishment of statehood ideas
in Azerbaijan society started to attain fundamental essence with coming of
national leader Heydar Aliyev to the government with persistent request of the
people in 1993. The new political course started to be formed in the country
since June 1993 eliminated the risk of civil war, ended separatism tendencies and
caused to realization of state building policy of H.Aliyev.
The Constitution adopted by our
independent state in 1995, all of legal and political acts adopted in the
republic serve to strengthening of independence of our state, protection of
human rights and development of democracy. The historical path in the period of
Azerbaijan’s independence must be honor for all of us, the importance of works
and their keeping fully to interests of our people must be appreciated properly.
The Azerbaijan state strengthened well after the second independence of our
republic, its image increased much more within the world and today the
country’s economy started to new stage by quality.
