Azerbaijan Trade Unions Confederation sends 68 tons of food aids to 3900 low-income families in 76 cities and regions of the country

The President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Mr. Ilham Aliyev, has identified the protection of the health and social security of the country's citizens as the main task from the first days of anti-coronavirus measures in the country, and instructed all government agencies to pay attention to this area.
The Confederation of Trade Unions of
Azerbaijan is also closely involved in the activities of President Ilham Aliyev
in connection with the coronavirus pandemic.
Within the framework of social support
measures, Azerbaijani trade unions have spent more than 1.6 million manat in a
short period of time. So far, food aid has been provided to more than 17,000
low-income families, funds in the amount of 631,600 manat have been spent for
these purposes, and protective equipment worth 148,000 manat has been purchased
and distributed. The trade unions transferred a total of 398,600 manat to the
Coronavirus Foundation.
Recently, the ATUC Executive Committee
adopted a new decision to distribute food aid to low-income families and
pensioners in need of special assistance and care. For this purpose, it was
decided to distribute food gifts to 3,900 low-income families living in 76
cities and regions of the country. Food gifts with a total volume of 68 tons
consist of daily necessities that are important for every family.
On April 29, a convoy of trucks
organized by the Azerbaijan Trade Unions Confederation left for the cities and
regions of the country to deliver food parcels to their addresses. Local trade
union activists will also take part in the action, which will cover all regions
of Azerbaijan.
In the context of the coronavirus
pandemic, trade unions will continue to provide material and moral support.
