The chairman of the ATUC attended the meetings of the Confederation of Trade Unions
19 Nov 2019
Meetings of the Council of the Confederation of Trade Unions and the Executive Committee were held in Moscow on November 19 in the Labor Palace of the Trade Unions.
Speaking at a meeting of the Council on Labor, Ecology,
Health and Social Security of the Workers, Member of the National Assembly,
Vice-President of the International Trade Union Confederation, Sattar Mohbaliyev
informed about the work carried out in our country in this area. Over the
years, it has become more political, economic, and social. The effectiveness of
the social policy of the head of state aimed at improving the welfare of its
citizens has significantly increased. Serious economic reforms in our country
and the work done to ensure transparency have contributed to a significant
increase in revenues, improved economic performance and financial opportunities
in the country. There is a fertile ground for the proper distribution of oil
revenues, the rapid development of the non-oil sector of the economy, and the
rapid transition to a new era of oil independent development.
Over the past
8 months, the President of our country has envisaged increasing the social
protection of citizens of the country, resolving the country's problems,
especially the increase of pensions and benefits for disabled people, families
of martyrs, IDPs and refugees while protecting the territorial integrity and
independence of Azerbaijan orders and
orders were signed.
The
implementation of measures aimed at improving the welfare of workers and
improving their social protection is reflected in the growth of generalized
indicators. In 2018, incomes increased by 9.2 percent.
S.Mohbaliyev
said that at the beginning of this year the President of the Republic of
Azerbaijan presented two large package of social reforms. By March 1, 2019, the
President's decree raised the minimum wage by 40 percent and reached a living
wage of 180 manat ($ 106). The budget of the country for these purposes was
more than 300 million manat, which covered 600,000 people and led to an increase
in the average monthly salary in the country. The second package envisages
raising the minimum wage to 250 manats ($ 147) from September 1, which is 38.9
percent higher than the living wage.
This year, the
minimum monthly pension increased by more than 70 percent to 200 manat ($ 118),
benefits - by 2 times, and the average monthly salary increased by 35 percent.
As a result, the average monthly salary in the country was 723 manat ($ 425).
Serious struggle with the underground economy has created more than 100,000
jobs. Of course, a 35 per cent increase in wages and an average monthly salary
of 723 manat is a prime example of the country's social policy.
The chairman
of the ATUC noted that these reforms cover 4 million 200 thousand people. He
also noted that the size of the minimum wage is more than the minimum wage for
a disabled person. The long-term, purposeful work of trade unions has also
contributed to the increase in the minimum wage in the country by almost two
times. It is well-known that incorporation of minimum wage commitments into
some government programs is the result of our persistent work.
The chairman
of the ATUC further emphasized that one of the priority directions for
Azerbaijan's trade unions to achieve their goals is to fight for decent wages.
Significant results have been achieved in this area over the past year as a
result of purposeful public policy and mutual cooperation of social partners.
"As a trade union, we see sustainable development of
the country through our active participation in the implementation of the State
Program" Sustainable Development Goals 2030, "aimed at improving the
future of labor, improving the socio-economic status of workers, combating
unemployment, and gender equality.
