The second congress of Azerbaijani students was held

There was held the second congress of Azerbaijani students at the Heydar Aliyev Center by the organization by the Ministries of Education and Youth and Sports on December 21.
At the
congress attended state and government representatives, Member of Parliaments,
education experts, media managers and students.
Farah
Aliyeva, the Head of the Presidential Administration's Humanitarian Policy
Department read the letter of The First Vice President of the Republic of
Azerbaijan, Mehriban Aliyeva, in which she congratulated the participants of
the congress.
Deputy
Prime Minister Ali Ahmadov said that the youth policy, which the basis laid by of the National Leader Heydar Aliyev, has
been successfully continuing by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Mr.
Ilham Aliyev. Ali Ahmadov noted that youth and students constitute an important
part of the Azerbaijani population; they play an important role in the
political, economic and social life of the country and wished success to the
work of the congress.
Ceyhun
Bayramov, Minister of Education, gave detailed information about the education
and youth policy carried out in the country and noted that students and youth
are covered by the state's attention and care. The Minister underlined that
over the past 5 years, the adoption of the State Strategy for the Development
of Education in the Republic of Azerbaijan, the higher education system has
been upgraded, the human resources and material and technical base of the
universities have been strengthened, and significant steps have been taken in
the direction of access to higher education. Over the past period, Azerbaijan
has become an equal member of the European Higher Education Area, and the
activities of higher education institutions have been adapted to the requirements
of the Bologna process.
The
Minister noted that this year a record number of admission exams - about 41,000
students have been nominated, 3127 out of 600 showed excellent results and 29
entrants collected 700 points. 2090 people have chosen a young teacher training
qualifying over 500 points, which proves the growing interest among teachers in
the profession of a teacher. In order to ensure the availability of education,
it is envisaged to significantly increase the number of public places in higher
education institutions in the 2019-2020 academic years.
According
to the Minister, 3558 young people study at the most prestigious universities
of the world within the framework of "State Program on Education of
Azerbaijani Young People in 2007-2015", the Minister said, adding that
more than 6,000 foreign students from 76 countries are currently studying in
Azerbaijani universities.
Speaking
at the congress, Shahin Ismayilov, chairman of the Union of Student Youth
Organizations of Azerbaijan, gave detailed information on the implemented
projects and activities.
Then a
film about Azerbaijani students was shown.
Conducted students' performances were heard.
Chairman of the Confederation of Trade Unions of Azerbaijan, Member of the Parliament,
Vice-President of the International Trade Union Confederation and Pan-European
Regional Council Sattar Mohbaliyev also participated at the congress.
