Reporting year was satisfactory

The meeting of the Free Trade Union was held on February 20 in the main building of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS).
The chairman of ANAS Free Trade Union, Doctor of
Juridical Sciences, Professor Habil Gurbanov presented the report of the
organization on 2019. He said that a lot of work was done last year to support
those involved in scientific activities, to assess their work, to solve their
financial and social problems, to participate in cultural activities and to
spend their leisure time efficiently. He noted that during the reporting year, 379 people were sent to
sanatoriums, 215 benefited from free medical examinations, as well as
scientific institutions and organizations were provided with necessary
medications and primary medical equipment.
Speaking
about the work done to improve the social welfare of the Academy's staff,
H.Gurbanov said that in 2019 many financial aid was offered for sale of fruit
and vegetable and food products at 30% cheaper than market prices through fairs
organized by Food Supply and Supply removed. In addition, he said that 1,645
people were sent to theaters and concerts in order to ensure the cultural
leisure of the scholars, while more than 4,000 tickets were purchased for the
children of ANAS employees.
The
rapporteur said March 8 was the International Women's Day with the support of
the Free Trade Union. Conferences were held on gender equality, women in
science and more. Also, this year, epidemiologists invited from the Republican
Center for Hygiene and Epidemiology have organized coronavirus awareness
campaigns at 20 ANAS facilities.
Gurbanov
said that the Academy pays special attention to sports games. He noted that
regular football championships were held among young scientists and specialists
and volleyball and basketball courts were built in the yard of the ANAS campus.
Then
there were discussions around the report and questions were answered. The
report was considered satisfactory by the members of the Assembly.
The
meeting also decided to hold events in scientific institutions and organizations
on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of Victory over fascism on May 9. In
addition, the new chairman of the trade union organization of the High
Technology Park of ANAS has been approved by the parliament.
Finally,
a number of current issues were considered.
