ATUC delegation takes part at the meeting of Executive Committee of General Confederation of Trade Unions

On April 12 the Executive Committee of General Confederation of Trade Unions held its meeting in Moscow. The Executive Committee considered the issue on “Ratification and compliance with ILO conventions in independent states where GCTU member organizations operate.
Albert Potapov, Deputy General Secretary of GCTV delivered a report in this regard. The Executive Committee noted that only one new convention of ILO was ratified in the period from April 2017. The convention will take the effect in November according to Georgian Trade Union Confederation.
The Executive Committee mentioned that countries in the region allow a lot of irregularities in implementation of previously approved conventions. At the same time encouraged the region's trade unions centers to support ratification of ILO's conventions. The Executive Committee made a statement in connection with 100th anniversary of establishment of Word Day for Safety and Health at Work and Labor Inspectorate. The statement says that the cases of occupational injures keep its high level despite of decreases. Employers mainly work under adverse conditions. Increasing risks cause human and economic loses.
At the Executive Committee's meeting Ilyas Aliyev, First Deputy Chairman of Azerbaijan Trade Unions Confederation commented on issues on the agenda. ATUC deputy chairman Agil Dadashov and Secretary- chief of Staff Hasan Jafarov also attended the meeting.
