The first country to approve road maps is Azerbaijan

On October 18, the next workshop on the theme of “High-Level Forum on Sustainable Development Goals in New York and upcoming tasks, recommendations” was held in Sheki with the support of the International Labor Organization (ILO).

First, the participants were informed about the goals and objectives of the workshop. It was said that Azerbaijan is one of the first countries to join the initiative of the OSCE. The trade unions of Azerbaijan are widely engaged in education in the country to better understand the objectives. Develops and implements various projects with partners.
It was noted that the National Coordination Council on Sustainable Development Goals functions in the country. The Council held meetings with all stakeholders while preparing the National Volunteer Report, and a number of guidelines were developed by the working groups of the Council. Azerbaijan is the first country in the region to approve roadmaps for this purpose. That is why Azerbaijan is included in the top 10 countries in the World Bank's Trade Facility Report for 2018.
Namik Huseynov, the head of the ATUC, spoke about the progress made in the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals. Specialist of the International Relations Department, Roya Garayeva, introduced the participants of the seminar at the UN High-Level Forum on Sustainable Development (DIM), the second national voluntary report of the Government of Azerbaijan on DIM.
Speaking at the event, deputy head of the organizational and information department of the ATUC, Ali Jafarov spoke about the key tasks facing trade union leaders and activists in the implementation of Sustainable Development Goals.
Discussions were held on the issues discussed at the event.
The seminar was attended by activists of trade unions of Sheki and surrounding regions.
